Kyle Porter

Soccer Specific Strength and Conditioning Coach

Training Philosophy:

With over 20 years of experience in playing, coaching, and training soccer players, Kyle specializes in maximizing physical performance and minimizing risk of injury for soccer players through his soccer specific strength and conditioning program.  Kyle is the proud founder and owner of Porter’s Athletic Performance.  He grew up in Las Cruces, NM, attending high school in Albuquerque, NM.  Kyle has always had a tremendous passion for soccer and strength and conditioning.  He grew up playing the game from the age of four, following in the footsteps of his older brother and sister. Kyle played college soccer for Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and was one of three of his family members to play at a top collegiate men’s soccer program as his brother and brother in law played for University of New Mexico and his brother in law also played for Columbus Crew for three years in the MLS.  Collectively, Kyle and his siblings have won fifteen New Mexico Club State Championships, four New Mexico High School State Championships, three Region IV Club Championships, and were runners up in two Region IV Championships. Growing up around a very competitive level of soccer has fueled his passion for playing, coaching and most of all training soccer players through his soccer specific strength and conditioning program. Kyle’s playing and training experience helped him discover a true passion for strength and conditioning. Kyle has the innate ability to relate to youth soccer players through his own personal experiences with the physical and mental demands of the game at a variety of different competitive levels.

His approach to strength and conditioning is based on proven scientific principles, personal experience as a high-level athlete, and each athlete’s individual characteristics and needs.  Kyle creates complete athletes that are well balanced, performance driven, with reduced risk of injury.  Each of his sessions are based on basic human movement patterns with an emphasis on a specific movement skills (i.e. linear acceleration, linear top-speed, multi-directional speed, etc.) paired with varying degrees of flexibility, stability, mobility, strength/power, energy systems development, and recovery.  His program aids in player physical and mental development while improving movement skills.  Kyle’s primary goal is to create autonomous intrinsic motivation for each of his athletes, making them feel competent in their ability to compete so that they can take full ownership of their program.  Kyle is committed to maximizing each individual athlete’s ceiling and optimizing their ability to perform physically while minimizing their risk of injury.
